Cake top forward is still definitely trending, so why not mix it up with an arch cake top?
Not only do they make a jaw-dropping impact, but they can be done in a fun, playful way or as elegantly as you like.
Simply use a guide on both the front and back of the cake and follow the lines of the guide to smooth.
To use, wrap each board in glad wrap or cling film, cover it with a good, even layer of buttercream, place one on each end of your cakes, fill the sides with buttercream and smooth by following the guide with your scraper – it really is that easy!
For the harder to glad wrap shapes, like the scallop, there are a few other ways to release your template from your buttercream or ganache:
- Lightly heat your top acrylic guide for a few minutes (a few seconds for chocolate) until the top is very slightly melted, then slide the guide right off.
- Gently trace around your guide onto baking paper, and cut. Attach the baking paper to your guide with your ganache or buttercream and ice as normal. The baking paper should easily peel off your set frosting.
We recommend chilling your cake before removing the guides otherwise your buttercream may come off with the board.
You will receive 2 pieces per shape when ordered.
